ROME, ITALY – February 1, 2017 XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions , has been awarded a multi-year contract to handle supply chain logistics for Italian apparel manufacturer Colmar. The contract is the result of a strategic decision on the part of Colmar to outsource its logistics operations in Italy for the first time.
XPO manages all returns and unsold end-of-season garments for Colmar at a 24,000 square meter multi-customer warehouse located in the Metropolitan City of Milan. XPO collects the merchandise and provides high-value-added services such as conformity control, re-labeling and the processing of flat and hanging garments to prepare them for retail store redistribution.
“XPO shares our core values of innovation, attention to detail, continuous improvement and a strong customer focus,” said Carlo Colombo, chief executive officer of Colmar. “From the outset, XPO has proved to be the right choice for us, due to their experience in fashion and luxury goods and their ability to provide an integrated logistics solution that flexes with seasonal peaks.”
The two companies have interfaced their technology systems to enhance speed and stability throughout Colmar’s supply chain.
Richard Cawston, managing director–supply chain, XPO Logistics Europe, said, "We’re proud that Colmar has chosen to entrust its supply chain logistics for unsold garments to XPO. Our team is committed to continually innovating our solutions for Colmar as the foundation for a long-term relationship."
